29 Day Challenge - Day 6: Vegas

Vegas is accessible for the “not disabled just fat” wheelchair set, but it’s also great if you want to get miles of walking done. I did some work even though I was outraged by my hotel charging $20/day for WiFi and $12/day for ethernet. What century is this anyway?

For meditation I sat by the deserted (and closed) pool at Caesar’s Palace. Construction sounds and birds were the only distractions, but it was a good session. Noises aren’t distracting, conversation is. I took the opportunity at Caesar’s because I had some time to kill before my first ever Hold ‘Em tournament. Interestingly poker did not worry me at all during meditation.

This is what I ate:

Breakfast

  • Clif Bar: 250

Lunch @ Bobby Flay’s Mesa (had to guess on some of these)

  • 3 pieces of bread: 250
  • butter: 100
  • Shrimp tamale: 400?
  • Blackened Grouper: 300
  • Some sort of tiny potato side: 100?

Snack @ Mon Ami Gabi

  • 6 oysters: 60

Dinner

  • 1/2 chicken quesadilla: 300
  • 2 jumbo shrimp: 60
  • Scotch: 65

Total

  • 1885 Calories

Note that I’m all done with booze for February. I didn’t have much desire to drink after that last one, but the social pressure of friends and cocktail waitresses was pretty intense. I’ve found that people leave you alone when you order a fancy bottled water. Socially you’re expected to order something so everyone can participate in the rituals of ordering and toasting.
