29 day challenge: Days 9 through 11

Everything is going really well. I’ve got lots of energy, my sleeping cycle is good, even my sense of smell is more acute. I think most of it has to do with never eating to capacity and not eating beef. It’s an unscientific opinion, but it feels as if I’m less inflamed somehow.

Yesterday I did a 1.75 hour hike in Hollywood’s Runyon Canyon and only ate 1400 calories, most of it sushi at 5pm. I was ravenous for the sushi but after that I didn’t feel hungry until the next morning.

The only chain link I missed yesterday was meditation, which is a bummer, but nothing to beat myself up over. The goal is not perfection but maintaining direction and momentum.

Today I went over my alloted calories by 200, but again, I’m not going to sweat it because yesterday was a low calorie, high workout day. Three days ago I weighed 244lbs. and today I’m 241 so I’m doing something right. If I were starting this diet over I would allow myself one splurge day a week, as is recommended by sensible fitness and diet professionals.

Tomorrow I’m going snowboarding for the first time. After 26 years of skiing this should be a fun challenge. I’m already loving that the boots are comfortable and lightweight.
