Let’s see, I could spend $700 for two extra Gigs of laptop RAM, or I could buy a couple of 2GB sticks for $39.99 each from NewEgg and just throw away the obsolete 1GB sticks that come with the MacBookPro.
Tough call.

Wow. That is really insane. But Apple have to make their money from somewhere. There is no law against stupid consumers.
Yes, it’s outrageous. I just got burned by this. Bought a 4 GB MBP and although the shop here got me a better deal than the $700 it was still money out the window. I had no idea RAM had become so cheap lately. Next time I’ll be installing it myself.
