Eliot Spitzer’s involvement in a prostitution ring is the scandal du jour.
Press conferences for sex scandals are always the same: the guy vaguely owns up to it, apologizes to his constituents, and says he’s going to take some time to work on his family life. What he really means is “Damn, I totally thought I’d never get caught.”
What’s weird is that the wronged wife always stands next to her husband with head cocked, disapproving, yet devoted and understanding. It seems that when the perks of power are good enough your marriage vows take on a certain flexibility. Hillary Clinton has practically built her life around this concept (part of why I find her so distasteful).
At least when Vanessa Bryant stood by Kobe at his press conference you knew that she was going to make the rest of his life as miserable as possible.
