I was unaware that bamboo could be made into towels, bed sheets, and clothes. It’s probably the kind of product that will simmer for a while then explode in popularity.
According to a cursory internet search bamboo fabrics have the following qualities:
- Naturally anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.
- Durable as cotton but softer.
- Wicks moisture away from the skin.
- Eco-friendly: grows quickly and doesn’t require heavy pesticides or fertilizers.
I’ve felt some bamboo sheets and they’re thick like cotton but smooth like silk. Bamboo towels feel just as soft and absorbent as good cotton towels.
Bamboo also makes lovely cutting boards, flooring, plywood, cabinets, and panda feed. Is there anything it can’t do?
