Glad to help Karl. This whole post is a case in point. I think it's one of my clumsier posts, even I'm not sure what I mean, but it seems to be helpful. Next on this topic will be clearer.

Taking action is the best way to get to where we want to go. No one is good at what they do when they first start. It takes love, time, and patience to make it happen. I'm a perfectionist and I need to just let go and contact companies in my community and tell them about what I offer. This weekend I will research 5 companies to offer my services and just go for it.

Great post! Thanks for the kick in the butt. I needed it.

Here's some totally free fairy dust: You know the news items that appear at the bottom of your WordPress Dashboard page? If anything important (or unimportant for that matter) happens in the world of blogging, you'll see it there. You'll also see announcements for theme and plugin releases, SEO advice, blogger events, juicy WP vs. MT/TypePad posts, and more.

Also, if you wish your blog had some functionality that it doesn't have today, Google "[desired functionality] WordPress plugin" and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Wait, don't you mean the SEO insta-millionaire pajama fairy dust bootcamp? 'Cause if it doesn't have bootcamp at the end, it's clearly not going to work.

Rules are: it has to be secret, magic, fast-working, happen in your pajamas *and* kick you until you beg for mercy. Or for more.

Though, must advise you to heed my own experience and beware the scary and sacred power of irony. My referring to my own bits of genius as "magical fairy wonder dust" started as a wee in-joke between me and myself, with many layers of quotation marks. Until a. realized that all the people getting their hard-core results were taking it really seriously and maybe I should too and b. the irony wore off due to over-exposure as is the way of irony, alas.

Okay, now that you pushed me into blogging (and without a bootcamp, no less) will try my best to be wildly incompetent. I mean, successful. Or both.

To clarify, there's nothing wrong with TypePad as a service, but you've got to use your own URL. Same goes for wordpress.com hosted sites. I pick on TypePad because it's older so many influential writers went with a TypePad URL early on and got stuck with it for fear of breaking old links.

Can't wait for "Bigfoot, fairydust, and you: the secret to getting rich in your pajamas".

There you go, dissing me and my Typepad homies again for our ugly blogs.

Just to spite you, I will make you help me convert to Wordpress with a shiny new interface and never write a post again. My guest bloggers will write topics like:

-the secret to the secret law of attraction
-SEO tricks GUARANTEED to make you a millionaire overnight
-how to create crappy programs in your pajamas that people will use their hard-earned grocery money to buy, only to find they are totally worthless

:)

Hi, I just wanted to drop in and say your GTD adaption of Tiddlywiki is awesome, but the wiki doesn't really fit my screen that well, is there any chance that you can modify it with flexible width columns that can stretch with the browser?

Thanks.

Communicatrix, would it be okay if I just had you ghost write all my posts for me? You said it better than I did :-)

"Worry more about writing than technology" aside, there is a technical mistake you can't recover from, and that's data loss. If you don't have a backup of your database, uploaded images, and theme files, you better rectify that mofo ASAP.

This WordPress database backup plugin is a good start: http://www.ilfilosofo.com/blog/wp-db-backup/

While I did recently hit you up with advice on how to squash an annoying gnat, I must say, I agree: slow & steady + killer f*cking content will out.

It may take you longer if you're entering a crowded field or if you're not blogging on a hot, niche topic, but it will grow.

Even in my no-potatoes world it's become obvious that value works, and works better than anything you actually have control over.

Plus, it has the added bonus of being not-evil!
